This morning we headed west on Hwy 30 to go to Columbus for a dentist apt. We never made it there, as you can see. We were about 5 miles out when we hit a patch of ice and the wind shifted causing us to lose control of the trailblazer and slide across the inside westbound lane, thru the median and across both east bound lanes (in front of an oncoming semi). We rolled twice and landed on our top. In the process we took out 3 huge pine trees and part of a fence and electrical box. My head broke out the passenger window, which is good since it allowed for us to escape. Both Balta and I had our seat belts on and he was able to get his off first and he tried to get the girls out but he couldn't get passed me and the seat. So he unbuckled me and I slide thru to get out Deyanira first and then Yaretzi. I passed each girl out my broken window to Balta and by that time the firemen and ambulance got there. I then proceeded to get out. They made me go to the hospital to get an x-ray of my head and neck to make sure everything is okay. I was cleared of any major trauma and released. (I still have my headache and my body is getting stiff- but I am fine). We say God was there with us to keep us from getting hit by the car behind us and the semi heading for us. We had a cross (from Deyanira's vacation bible study) and a rosary (that I had blessed not long before this) hanging on the rear view mirror. Both are gone without a trace! There is no indication that there was either necklace/rosary in the vehicle. I think God took them to show us He was there and saved us from certain tragedy. The state trooper said that the carseats were in there very tight as when he went to check them, after they righted the blazer, they were still un-movable! He also said that 5-point harness that we still have Deyanira in helped save her as well (I kept telling everyone she is too small to be in a booster!).It is fortunate that we had at least liablility insurance and now we only have to pay for the towing and storage costs (which are about $250 right now) everything else, aside from the blazer, are paid (i.e. the damage to the trees, electrical box, ambulance ride, ER visit, etc...)
Tomorrow I have to take in teh one and only plate we could find and the registration and get my money for it. I wonder if the salvage yard will give us any money for it? Unlikely I suppose.
Well, as we pray for the health and safety of your family we hope that you pray for ours, because He does listen!
I think it is time for an Our Father...
Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
AMEN!!!!!!!

OMG Shawnna it is a miracle that nothing happened to you or your girls, It just makes everyone think about the weather that we have to deal with here in the mid west. I work in Insurance so I know first hand how many accidents we have daily, but it is diffrent when it happens to someone you know, you actually take a moment to take it in. Thank God everyone is ok,

I know it seems to put it all into perspective when its close to home. The girls had not a singel scratch on them, Balta had a couple small ones, I have two huge lumps on my head and some scrapes on my head and a bit of bruising on my head and ear, thats it! But my injuries are mostly hidden by my hair! Glad you were able to see the pics, hope you will continue to read my blogs!
